This room is easily the nicest one we have in our house and a place I foresee us spending a lot of time – with or without baby! It is just so soothing.

When thinking about the design of the space, I wanted something pink but not an in-your-face type of pink so that Travis could withstand more than five minutes at a time. I accepted early on that the idea of a Lilly Pulitzer themed room, as much as I would have loved it, was out of the question. Instead of going with an overall theme, we decided on a just a color scheme of light pinks and gray that would allow us to venture in any direction we chose along the way and not limit the boundaries of decor.
I wish we had a before picture of this room to show you how much of transformation took place. The walls were plain and there was some weird, high-up shelf – both of which were that way when Travis bought the house. I showed him a picture of a wainscot style I liked and that talented hubby took it from there. He had zero experience doing anything like this before and when you look at the room, it looks like we paid a professional to do the job. I am so impressed by his abilities and determination to give his little girl the most perfect nursery.
The entire nursey set is from Delta Children; it’s part of their Harper collection. We priced a lot of options out and did our homework, realizing that the all-in-one set option from Delta was a great value verses a piece-meal approach. It came with the crib, dresser, chair, mattress, mattress cover and storage boxes. Travis’ parents graciously purchased the set for their soon-to-be granddaughter and in an early sign that she will have grandpa wrapped around her finger, an additional toy box somehow came along with it. We ended up buying the changing station, also a Delta, from Walmart for only $50.

The Sweet JoJo Designs bedding set became a focal point of the room and with so many hues of pink, made it easy to accessorize. We also received the matching mobile, storage box and play mats as gifts so those helped to tie everything in even more. The wooden name sign above the crib came from the CompletelyCraftIt shop on Etsy. One of the most stressful parts of the whole nursey (though I’m sure Travis would disagree on this point after doing the walls and assembling all the furniture) was finding the right color pink to paint the sign; especially during a pandemic when craft stores’ supply chains are still messed up and many new hobbyists emerged to keep busy. We ended up finding a spray paint that matched one of the bedding florals perfectly.

So what’s our absolute favorite part of the nursery? The fandalier – which is something I never even knew existed. We wanted a chandelier (and by we, maybe I mean me) but both of our moms suggested the more practical route of a fan instead to keep the little one cool. After some digging on Overstock.com, we discovered this magical blend of glam and necessity in one stunning package. And, by some glitch of the system, we nabbed it for $150 when it is regularly over $250 and we had just seen it moments before on the site for $200! Talk about timing. The fandalier is currently sold out but there are similar options on the site.

Some of the other notable items in the room are the Kensie curtains we found at the price of $16 for the set at Home Goods after searching high and low for the right color. They are sheer white with adorable pink balls on them. It was also the best deal we came across as many of the others sets were running $20-30 per curtain! Here is a similar set on Amazon. We found the pink poof (foot rest for those who are unfamiliar with this term like we were) at At Home, but it was missing a price tag. We did a search online and saw good ones can run anywhere from $60 - $130, so figured we’d give it a try and see what the price was. If it was too much, back to the shelf it would go. Well, low and behold, the folks at the register could not find this specific product in the system and decided to give it to us for only $20 “if we were okay with that.” Straight faces on, we said we thought that was fair. Another deal scored! The white round rug came from Target at $30 and is currently on sale. As a gift from my parents, we also received a laundry basket, hand painted with Madison’s name on it and flowers designed to match the comforter set.

There are a few personal aspects of the room as well. Travis’ mom had a shadow box made containing a dress that her grandmother made for her when she was little; on the back it tells the story so that Madison can carry it through future generations. Above the dress is a prayer sign that hung above my bed when I was a little girl, with a message I would recite every night before going to sleep (and still do, actually). On one of the floating shelves, there is a musical carousel that was a gift from my aunt when I was young as well.

Her closet is another favorite part of mine, but we’ll need to keep that door closed most of the time so it does not give her daddy too much anxiety :)

Though there were certainly moments of stress, we are so happy with how everything came together and cannot wait to sit in this room with our baby girl in just a few short weeks.
